Retreats & Special Events

STOP and Be Still is perfect for weekend retreats and can be customized to fit the needs of your women’s group. With six lessons to choose from we’ll create a package that best meets the needs of the ladies in your church.

Listen to a 40 minute message introducing the STOP and Be Still concepts.

STOP and Be Still

The material from the STOP and Be Still Bible study can become a weekend journey of building intimacy with Jesus. There are six messages to choose from, and each will teach a unique way to be quiet and turn our focus to God. As busy women, we often struggle to slow down and be present with the Lord Jesus.

The often quoted but rarely practiced scripture found in Psalm 46:10 is our theme verse…”Be still and know that I am God.” Easier said than done, right? But we’ll practice together, and I am confident that as a result, we will grow closer to Jesus.

Other Common Topics

Nancy is available to custom design a single presentation or weekend retreat for your next women’s ministry event. Some topics that she regularly teaches on are listed below.

What is the difference between happiness and joy and how do we find joy in this life?
Have you ever tried to run your own life? Done things in your own strength? If so, you are in good company. I struggle all the time to follow HIS will. Somehow I get in my mind that my ideas are better, or easier, or faster. And so sometimes consciously I choose my will over God’s will. Other times it’s subconscious that I reject his plan. The truth is we need to re-train our brains to SEEK and FOLLOW Him instead of our own way. It’s only then when things start to work.
The principle that forgiveness is both a decision and a process. The Bible commands that we forgive, but that decision does not necessarily resolve the pain and effects of sin. We cannot avoid, minimize or deny the things that have hurt us. We need to look to God and others for forgiveness and healing. It is for our benefit as well as those who have hurt us.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” NIV Proverbs 4:23
“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” NLT Proverbs 4:23
Many of us believe that our hearts are evil. We get confused about our sin nature and the new heart that we received at salvation. In this 2-part message, we will learn the truth about our new heart and why it’s so important to protect it.
In the second part of this message, we will examine the lies we believe and the subtle agreements we make with our enemy. We will also learn some powerful language to reject and renounce these lies and replace them with God’s truth.
“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.” Psalm 118:1 In this message we’ll intentionally look at ways to be

In this message, we’ll intentionally look at ways to be
Thankful to God
Thankful for others
Thankful for your church

God does not waste pain but allowing Him to use our pain requires that we want to be well. Sometimes it begins with a simple prayer, “God, help me to be willing to be willing.”

“Come, let’s talk this over! Says the Lord; no matter how deep the stain of your sins, I can take it out and make you as clean as freshly fallen snow. Even if you are stained as red as crimson, I can make you white as wool!” Isaiah 1:18 (TLB)

STOP and Be Still

The vision of STOP and Be Still is to create an environment where women can slow down, receive teaching, seek God, and PRACTICE being quiet and still with their body, mind, and soul.

This 6-week Bible Study includes a 35 to 45-minute message followed by a practical application where women privately practice silence, solitude and the presence of Christ using what they learned. Finally, the meeting time ends with a recap and exhortation to encourage women to continue growing closer to God.

Door of Hope

Door of Hope is a 12-week Bible study and support group for women who were sexually abused as children. Using Jan Frank’s book by the same name, we will explore topics like

  • healing emotional wounds
  • experiencing feelings
  • establishing responsibility
  • sexual difficulty in marriage
  • acknowledging forgiveness
  • rebuilding self-image
  • and much more

Jan Frank is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a sexual abuse survivor.  Her book is solid in its Biblical teaching.

Our goal is to provide a safe and non-threatening environment for survivors of childhood sexual abuse to identify and work through issues while allowing the Holy Spirit to do His healing work. Jesus is the only one who can bring about deep restoration and peace that is often missing in the depths of our wounded souls.
